My Dad and I had a wonderful week at the cottage. It is very comfortable. We had a problem and reported to Keira and... within 10 minutes, Karl , the owner was there to sort it. Their after sales support is exceptional. The only downside is the over sensitive smoke alarm which even goes off when making toast . Strongly suggest they relocate to a safe but less sensitive position. Otherwise couldn't fault it. Superb village and so central to everything.read more

Riverside cottage is a great place to stay with a very homely atmosphere. Located in Ballater which is a beautiful... little town with plenty unique little shops and places to eat.The cottage itself is very comfortable and made a relaxing atmosphere for our long weekend. The living room is a cozy snug with a log burner if required but the cottage was warm enough without lighting it. The beds are exceptionally comfortable and a good nights sleep was had by all. An added bonus is the Swedish hot tub and even though the temperature dropped one night sitting in the hot tub was great to sit inA welcome pack of goodies greeted our arrival which was a very personal touchA big thank you to our hosts for making our stay a relaxing:comfortable experience we will definitely be backread more

Riverside Cottage is the great location for a getaway. The cottage is on a peaceful lane with no traffic other than... residents yet is really close to the main street so everything you could want is within walking distance. The hot tub and overhead lights in the garden are a great touch and well worth making time for a bit of relaxation after a long walk. Would definitely recommend!read more

We had a wonderful stay at River Side Cottage! The cottage is cozy and charming, with all the necessities. It is in the... perfect location to access the village and the great outdoors! A soak in the hot tub is a great way to end the day. The hosts were very attentive and made us feel welcome right from the start. I couldn't imagine a better place to holiday. About Riverside Cottage

When it comes to lodges in Ballater, you won’t have to look any further. Riverside Cottage sleeps up to 6 making it an ideal holiday home for families or friends. This private two-story house is excellent for an active holiday in the Cairngorms, for relaxing by the fire stove or in the outside hot tub. It is located close to all amenities and you have access to famous walks from your doorstep. Don’t look any further when it comes to lodges in Ballater!

Both bedrooms are located on the 1st floor. The master bedroom has a king size bed & a small desk. The twin room has plenty of storage space & two single beds. The twin-beds can be made in to a double-bed on request. In between the two bedrooms is the upstairs bathroom. It is well sized and boasts a built-in shower & separate double ended bath. This accommodation in Ballater features 2 bathrooms.

The Downstairs has a snug lounge with 2 large sofas, a 46” LED TV & a wood burning stove. The kitchen is spacious with all amenities for a self-catered holiday. Riverside Cottages’ sunroom has a dining & seating area with space for 6 people overlooking the garden. A further 2 guests sleep on a sofa bed in this sunroom. The entrance features a cloakroom for coats & shoes.

The cosy cottage has a secluded courtyard with ambient festoon lights & outside furniture for al fresco dining.

Riverside Cottage - Ballater accommodation - is located centrally with pubs & a supermarket within walking distance. There is a local delicatessen & butcher as well.

Highland Cottage Rentals are committed to being a sustainable holiday home. Working with an eco-friendly interior designer & Green Tourism we have established goals and already implemented below initiatives.

Fitted above building standard insulation to help with keeping you warm & to make our heating system as efficient as possible.
Installed solar panels on the garage roof to heat the water.
LED lighting throughout the property which is 80% more efficient than traditional lighting.
Planted a herb & salad garden for your use, to promote organic ingredients & to help reduce supermarket plastics.
We use a green web hosting company based entirely in the UK for our website & online communications. We highly recommend them - Eco Hosting!
We employ a local cleaner who can walk to the property.
We air dry the linen when possible to conserve energy by not using a tumbler dryer.
Respect natural resources and where possible recover & reuse materials for our projects.
We have swapped out cleaning products & toiletries for sustainably sourced products & eco friendly substances.
Compost – we have another property where we take all of the food waste & turn this into compost for our self-sustained veggie garden.
Added a separate recycling bin so no excuses not to recycle when you stay with us!
Installed a traditional wood fired hot tub for wellbeing & the eco - friendly benefits.
